What is Safety 'N Kids Traffic Summit?

Safety 'N Kids Traffic Summit is not for children, but for those professionals who are exploring and offering new concepts, programs and ideas on how to solve traffic problems that causes the injuries and deaths of children.

The Summit is hosted by the California Office of Traffic Safety, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and co-sponsored by the City of Los Angeles and the Los Angeles Unified School District.

The new Summit format especially for educators, is guaranteed to explore and exchange ideas, and generate new concepts and solutions. Traffic safety topics will be scheduled on the same day as the targeted age groups:

  • Early Child Care/Preschool/Elementary - ages 0-10,
  • Middle/Junior High - ages 11-13,
  • High School - 14-18,
  • Elderly who transport their grandchildren.

The Summit addresses a wide range of traffic safety concerns regarding children, pre-teens, teens and adults who assist children in their passage from home to school and after school activities, to include: child restraint systems, bicycle safety, street racing, and safe routes to school; as well as senior issues, law enforcement methods and challenges, funding sources and ideas, and much more.

The Summit will present all workshop-related materials in English and Spanish, enabling comprehensive sharing of information. The five pillars of traffic safety are essential for behavioral change: Education, Engineering, Enforcement, Encouragement and Enrichment.

Why Should You Attend Safety 'N Kids?

Schools are becoming more aware of how much the traffic influences the quality of life in the school community. As population growth impacts the community, school campuses become more and more the pulse of each local community and the timber of the residences. Therefore, the involvement of educators, traffic safety engineers, transportation experts, care providers, local government and enforcement agencies is paramount. Your involvement will provide solutions for our constituency to practice traffic safety, through promoting the saving of lives and enriching the quality of life. By working together with our limited resources, we can make a noticeable impact in our communities.

The attendees come from the public and private sectors and represent many career fields. Safety 'N Kids Traffic Summit draws attendees from, but not limited to:
